Hey, I got an unexpected couple of days at home this week! So I should use that time wisely, catching up and even getting ahead on jewelry and other goods, right? Yeah, except the extra days at home came about because I was sick. So I spent time just vegging out and sleeping. When the body is down, it takes the brain right along with it. Sigh. But I’m better now, and I’ve still got a whole weekend to work.
Today I finished ’shopping, I submitted for a juried show, and I updated the holy heck out of every site I could get my hands on. Now all I have to do is sync up the flash drive and update the everlasting To Do list…
I just created a Facebook page for McCord Works. Let’s see how that goes. Hmm, need to update some links.
Monday’s a holiday, and I’m taking off Friday and Tuesday to give myself five solid days of time to work. One of those days was going to be taken up with a day trip to San Antonio, but I’ve pretty well talked myself out of that now. If that happens, it’ll be on Sunday now.
There’s a very long to-do list. Tomorrow there will be dyeing of silk thread and scarves. Today there will be planning of just what and how much I want to do. And some shopping for supplies. And groceries. It’s such a glamorous life!
Tuesday is the reward: a trip to the salon to get my hair cut for the first time in forever! It’s already scheduled, so I hope I deserve the pampering for a job well done by then.
Well, four shows in five weekends was educational. No more for the rest of 2009 now. I need to take a hard look at what works and what doesn’t, and what might in the future. I’m pretty sure the category will be clothing accessories, and it will involve dyeing, silk thread and silk fabric. And still lots of tiny crochet. Because that’s the point.
Yesterday I sold my best, prettiest and most expensive earrings. That made me feel appreciated and accomplished.
I got a mention in a Houston Chronicle blog, Home in the Heights. It’s so cool to see your name in print! As the post mentions, I will be at the First Saturday Arts Market in the Heights again this Saturday.
As a matter of fact, I have four shows over the next five weekends. Check out my home page for the dates and places.
(Thanks, Mitch, for the heads up on the Chronicle blog post, and for running the market so well!)
The move (local) is done. The potential job change is not happening, so that distraction is gone. Now I can get back to work in earnest! I’ve got a few events on my calendar, and I’m waiting to finalize a few more. Probably Dickens on the Strand, but I haven’t quite gotten that together yet. Also I’m looking at a few local boutiques. More news soon!
Well, it seems that moving all your worldly possessions does take a bite out of your time and attention! But here’s the news: my website is updated with where you can find me this fall in a booth, display or online! I hope to add a few more dates before too long. Check it out, and come say hello!
I’m finally putting the various doilies under glass for sale in the Etsy shop very very very soon. Also a handful of new earrings in several colors. I was really hoping to get some done before the weekend, but I don’t think it will happen. But early next week, for sure!
New Flickr photos! New jewelry in the Etsy shop!
