Hooray for personality quirks

Thank goodness I’m a teeny bit obsessive-compulsive. Etsy and Flickr sites are completely updated, priced, tagged, categorized in every way. It took way too long.

Good show

So the CHH Annual Sale at HCCC was a lot of fun, and it went well. (Though I had a hard time keeping the abbreviations straight; for my own reference, I called the whole thing HCHCH.) These people are really nice. And what amazing goodies I saw. If I could spend my whole life knitting, crocheting, weaving, spinning, dyeing, etc., I would be a happy woman.

I sold a few things, such as the pendant below, with matching earrings. I wanted to post a picture here, since this won’t be going on McCord Works, my Etsy site. Look for new items in the online store soon, and additions to the Flickr site.

The jewelry dude

Filed under: crochet, dye, weave — leisa @ 12:36 pm August 17, 2008

The CHH Annual Sale is coming up, and I wanted a super cool display for my jewelry. Most of what’s going to be for sale there is going to be large and flat, and I don’t want my tiny little things to get lost in the shuffle. Sure, I could have gotten some kind of ornament tree, but that’s so boring and predictable! Instead I commissioned a wire sculpture from Zack, teenage son of my friend Laurie, who made this spectacular guy. Doesn’t he look like his arms are getting tired?

I’m still working on getting images of all these up and running. They’ve been taken, but not color-corrected, cropped, etc. I want to get all of them ready to go up on my Etsy site, but I hope lots of them will sell at the show. If you’re in Houston this Thursday through Saturday (8/21-23) get over to the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft and check it out!

Doily scans in Flickr

I just uploaded scans of all the doilies I’ve made into a Flickr set. Almost all of these are mounted in shadowboxes, but photography of shadowboxes has lagged behind. The scans are just so stark and beautiful, though.

White Linen Night

Things went beautifully at White Linen Night on Saturday at Oolala. I sold a few items, including the doily shadowbox on the left in the photo. I spoke to some lovely folks about crochet and related crafts. I really need to try my hand at bobbin lace someday. I will put some jewelry and a doily shadowbox at Oolala again later this week, but only white jewelry. All the dyed jewelry is going to the show at the Contemporary Handweavers of Houston Annual Sale later this month.
